I Never Get Tired of a Bunny in a Frog Suit!

I love Brenda Ponnay's bunny books and this one is my favorite because I adore a portrait of a bunny in a frog suit. What a great beginning reader. The pictures pull me right into Bunny-World without a lot of details that would distract a beginning reader, especially if the process is a bit difficult for him. The story is about a family with structure, if your dinner isn't done- no dessert. Kids know this principle and here they are reading about it and they will love seeing themselves reflected in miserable bunny's body language. Another book about an unhappy child is Bearos.

this bunny has personality plus, even at the dinner table

This winning book from Brenda Ponnay is her third in a series that stars a charming, smart little Bunny. It follows Bunny from being called to come wash up for dinner, to setting the table, to changing into appropriate dinner clothes (those familiar with "Time to Get Ready, Bunny!" and "Time for Bed, Bunny!" will be happy to know that the giggle-inducing frog suit makes an appearance) to eating with the family, to eating "just two bites" of a new food, to clearing the table. The illustrations are sweet and often funny, especially the face Bunny makes on the page when those two bites are finally taken. Bunny's clothes and appearance aren't specifically girly or boyish, which is nice because any kid will be able to see him- or herself in Bunny's actions. Each page has one or two short sentences, making this book perfect for toddlers with short attention spans OR for beginning readers. (My 8-year-old loves to read it to her 20-month-old sister.) We look forward to reading more of Bunny's day-to-day adventures!

This was my first experience with the bunny books, and I had no idea what to expect. Read it to my
two year old twin girls, and they belly laughed over and over and made me read it at least 15 times,
as toddlers do. They "get" the correlation between bunny and themselves. Ended up getting three
bunny books and they love them all. Part of our daily routine is to read bunny. They love to tell
each other, "bunny, eat your mushrooms". I read the book with humor, rather than chastisement and even
my 5 year old granddaughter likes it. So glad for the bunny books!

Of dining, Walker states, “we are ordinarily content with the standard of mediocrity….Anybody can dine, but very few know how to dine, so as to ensure the greatest quantity of health and enjoyment.” Walker continues the section with a detailed explanation and ramblings about the proper way to dine, showcasing a fascinating glimpse into the dining habits of the early 19th century.  Although most of the tome focuses on dining, The Art of Dining; And the Art of Attaining High Health also explores achieving good health and enjoying supper. Of the first, Walker wisely states, “Content the stomach, and the stomach will content you,” and follows with advice still believed today, that eating natural, good food leads to good health. Of supper, Walker proclaims, “Dinner is a business; supper an amusement” and warns readers to not forgo this important meal. The Art of Dining; And the Art of Attaining High Health was written in the early 19th century, but Walker clearly expounds on ideas that are still current for “foodies,” food writers, and health food advocates of today. This edition of The Art of Dining; And the Art of Attaining High Health was reproduced by permission from the volume in the collection of the American Antiquarian Society, Worcester, Massachusetts. Founded in 1812 by Isaiah Thomas, a Revolutionary War patriot and successful printer and publisher, the Society is a research library documenting the life of Americans from the colonial era through 1876. The Society collects, preserves, and makes available as complete a record as possible of the printed materials from the early American experience. The cookbook collection includes approximately 1,100 volumes.

EJ will make me a reader of novellas

I usually steer clear of novellas. I like a long, immersive novel. However, Eloisa James shows that sometimes a story is perfect if it's kept to a concise size.

I've loved most of James' novels, In fact, I have a difficult time finding any other historical authors who truly pull me into a story, surprise me, and keep me coming back for more. This story is no exception. EJ's novels always include humor, wit, and gut wrenching romance.

Beware but why?

I too have purchased all the titles in the book previously, HOWEVER, if we buy a book and find it is one already purchased and in another name, Amazon is happy to refund our money. Just ask them. It is no reason to get upset with author. These authors work hard on writing and to give us great stories so be fair! ( I too have been quote.... fooled but I know enough to take it back or send it back or return kindle book for refund if this happens. So it is our choice...

Great author, and of course even if I have purchased the books before and it is a reprint under another name,,,,, I still will buy her.

Maybe we should all let the publishers know.-..... write REPRINT!!! OR write original name on the cover!!! and reprint.

Unique heroine deserves a far more interesting story!

The hidden problem in falling in love with a certain author's writing style is that my subsequent expectations of her work tend to be too high, setting me up for inevitable disappointment! I love the witty, charming, insightful, sneakily literate writing of authors like Eloisa James, Loretta Chase, Connie Brockway, Meredith Duran (etc., etc., etc.!) so much that I forget loving HOW they write doesn't mean I'll always love WHAT they write. Eloisa James creates a great heroine here in plainspoken, artistic, quietly observant Grace, but, alas, she's stuck in a decidedly lackluster, choppily paced story. I had high hopes that I'd like the hero, Colin, who's actually (*gasp*) kind rather than the icy, snarling jerks that dominate way too many recent romances. Unfortunately, Colin proved as insipid as the story he's stuck in, and I had trouble buying into his alleged love for our heroine. It felt more like friendship and gratitude...and, hey, nothing says romance like a guy who initially thinks he's in love with your own sister instead! ;) (That's not a spoiler, by the way---that plot point is given away by the book's synopsis!)

2.5 stars for a likable, interestingly atypical heroine and a few good lines and moments, but overall this one fell fairly flat for me. The first part showed the most promise. The third felt like nothing but a couple of ridiculously drawn out, repetitive sex scenes, but then I tend to like that aspect of most romance novels less than most anyway. I'd recommend it only if you get it at a very low price or just feel compelled to own anything and everything written by the normally much more interesting and clever Eloisa James!

Great short story

This was a great introduction short story. This novella introduces and sets the stage for the characters for the book Champagne Life: a Novel by Nicole Bradshaw. I really enjoyed this short story and the characters are a trip. Naomi and Ticia are friends that take a weekend trip to the Bahamas for a mini vacation of relaxing and partying. While there, they meet Fabian and DeShaun and enjoy a little of the Bahamian night life.
This read is entertaining with an introduction to great character development and a fantastic location setting. I look forward to reading the novel and find out more about the passionate personalities of the characters. I highly recommend this read.

This little book is perfect for the beginner who cannot read notes! So simple to follow and easy to understand. The detailed mapping out of notes and where they belong on the fret board is great. I could not read a single note when I purchased this book and considered notes another language one that I couldn't read! Now I use the Yamaha Guitar Method book for review and improving my timing. A must for the beginner.

About the Author
One of the most beloved writers of his generation, Antonio Tabucchi was born in Pisa in 1943 and died in Lisbon in 2012. A master of short fiction, he won the Prix Médicis Etranger for Indian Nocturne, the Italian PEN Prize for Requiem: A Hallucination, the Aristeion European Literature for Pereira Declares, and was named a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French government. Together with his wife, María José de Lancastre, Tabucchi translated much of the work of Fernando Pessoa into Italian. Tabucchi¢s works include Little Misunderstandings of No Importance, Letter from Casablanca, The Edge of the Horizon, and The Edge of the Horizon.

Tim Parks teaches literary translation at IULM University in Milan. He is a literary critic and the author of An Italian Education, The Server, Dreams of Rivers and Seas, and Teach Us to Sit Still. Twice winner of the John Florio Prize for translation, Parks has translated works by Alberto Moravia, Italo Calvino, Roberto Calasso, Niccolò Machiavelli, Fleur Jaeggy, and Antonio Tabucchi.

Keep your voice down, people are watching us. She was blonde and wore big sunglasses with delicately tinted lenses. The man’s head jerked a little to one side, a sign of annoyance. interesting but disjointed

Some interesting glimpses into the Azores, none of which have much depth or character development. There are also some very long untranslated passages which make it problematic. A couple of the stories are charming though, but not worth the price of the book.
